All members who DO NOT wear their Rotary pin will be spinning the wheel next Wednesday!

Speakers

This week we had our very own Kim O'Grady and Helmi give us two short presentations.

Kim let the club know that the membership committee plans to focus on Retention and membership. The committees goal is to fulfil the existing members needs and and keeping members happy. New membership is important but so is making sure that all members needs are met.

The plan of the membership committee is to focus on make ups and attendance at fire side chats, as well as the importance of community involvement. Recruitment is important so the goal is to focus on quality commitment. The plan is to match new inductees with an appropriate mentor and it is equally important to have mentors for the mentors in order to preserve the main focus of our Rotary Club, which is a service club.

Kim also announced that if you are in need of Rotary wear please contact her for an order sheet. There are a variety of shirts, jackets and vests. Peter Redwood even talked Kim into ball caps! Lets advertise our commitment to Rotary today!

Peter Redwood let our club know why he had to switch membership from the morning club to the afternoon Rotary club in the late 1990's. Due to his career he could not commit fully to attendance and when Peter does something he commits completely! Please contact Peter Redwood if you want more details of his life as a Rotarian!

Mary Rashleigh was the first woman to be inducted into Rotary at her original club. Mary told us a story about “Bob” the friend that asked her not to join Rotary or he would quit! Mary joined Rotary and her friend “Bob” did quit the club. Mary was unhappy about that so she decided to take “Bob” out for a drink and bring him back to Rotary and she did!
George Zacal commented on his own reservations of women being in Rotary and his own experiences from his Mississauga club.

President Ken encouraged all Rotarian's to get up and speak of their experiences in the club on a regular basis.

Mary Rashleigh suggested that everyone greet everyone before the club meeting starts. Its very important to greet everyone and shake their hand. This is an important tradition.
