Jen Simpson read a medical journal article that explained that Canada is still vulnerable to Polio. Polio may be cured in Asia, but Canada can still be at risk. We need to continue our efforts to eliminate Polio by globally increasing immunizations to all Countries at risk.

Lou Luvison took Nikki to the airport and he is safely home with his family. Nikki's thank you and parting gift to Huntsville Rotary Club was a Bolivia Festival Dress book.

Bill Sibeon took a moment to correct some miss information that was circulating. His wife is undergoing radiation on her face. This is not a life threatening procedure and she is otherwise in good health.

Jennifer Jerrett announced we received thank you letters from the Bursary students from Huntsville High School. (I will see if I can scan and link them at a later date). All Rotarian’s can view them on the Bulletin Board displayed at the meeting.

Speaker and Topic

There was no scheduled speaker this week so Ron Strickland stepped up and gave all attending a tutorial on Rotary International. If you have never signed into Rotary International, Ron Strickland encourages you to take a moment and do so. Rotary International allows you to make specialized donations to the causes that you want your donated money to go. It also allows you to submit donations in memorial or as gift options. When submitting donations on behalf or in memorial of others, Rotary International will send recognition to the recipient or their next of kin.

President Ken played the inspiring “Light Up Rotary” video. The video's premise was to inspire Rotarian’s.

Presient Ken and Ron Strickland awarded Len Ross the Paul Harris recognition pin for his continual donation efforts.

Other News

Before the conclusion of the meeting it was brought to the meetings attention that Kathleen Miller would like to be taken off all Rotary email lists. The notifications upset her. Sandy Mackay ensures all Rotarian’s that she has support but is still finding it hard.

Gord Mitchell informed all Rotarian’s that The Sargent of Arms is a lot of work and he is in charge of the meeting according to the club definition of position.

Gord charged a fine to our President Ken for NOT bringing a cutting board and knives for the buns that were served at lunch. It was all in fun.

Gord reminded all Rotarian’s that you need to call Al's when missing a lunch. This week 11 Rotarian’s will be charged for the lunch that was ordered on their behalf. To make Gord's life easier please call 705-789-2374 to report that you will not be attending meeting by Tuesday at noon. The call centre is open 24hrs so please utilize it. It is just easier for everyone involved if report when you know you will be absent.
