Fellow Rotarian Jack Little

After a long illness President Jennifer was sad to report that Jack Little passed away.

 

Jack joined Rotary in 1987 when serving as Director of Education. He was an extremely active Rotarian at both the Club and District levels have been the Club’s President in 1996-97 and the District Governor in 2000-01 Rotary years. In 2003 Jack was recognized by the Trustees of The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International with the Citation For Meritorious Service Award for his work in the promotion of The Rotary Foundation. In 2004 Jack was recognized by the Club for his wonderful involvement in Club and District activities with the Hon. Ray Lawson Rotarian of the Year Award.

Jack Little of London in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Phyllis for over 55 years. Devoted father of John (Jane Baird), David and Bill (Susie Bailey). Very proud grandfather of Jared, Jacob and Mason. Dear brother of Joan Whitlock and her husband Bev of Glencoe. Brother-in-law of Margaret Herrington and her partner the late Barry Fry of London and Richard Mahoney and his wife Wendy of Katrine formerly of London. Jack will also be missed sadly by many nieces and nephews and their families. Jack was born on the family farm in Ekfrid Township on February 7, 1936.

He graduated from Western University and began a distinguished career in education, beginning as a teacher and culminating as Director of Education for what is now the Thames Valley District School Board. Jack spent countless hours volunteering his time on numerous Boards of Directors, was very active in Rotary International where he was a past District Governor and has been an active leader at his church, Siloam United. Summers and retirement years have been enjoyed by Jack and Phyllis at their beloved cottage that Jack built on Little Doe Lake. Visitation on Thursday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond, London. The funeral service will be conducted at Siloam United Church, 1240 Fanshawe Park Road East, London on Friday March 17 at 11:00 a.m. Interment Oakland Cemetery, Glencoe. Memorial contributions to the Siloam United Church Memorial Fund or The Rotary Club of London would be appreciated.

 
 

Muskoka Heritage Place

The Rotary Club of Huntsville has worked with The Town of Huntsville's consultant to help make recommendations for Muskoka Heritage Place's future. The consultant's presentation will be taking place on March 29th at 6:30pm at the Active Living Center. It is recommended to all Rotarian's that if you are free that evening please try to show support by attending.

 

The Rotary Club of Nipissing

The Rotary Club of Nipissing is holding its annual Surf & Turf "Tastes of the Bay" Silent Auction in support of their local youth projects. The dinner will be held on Friday, May 26th at 5pm at the Education Centre (Nipissing/Canadore). $90 per ticket or $85 for groups of 6 or more.
