John Tomlinson, our speaker, was introduced by his friend and fellow past District Governor, Ronald P. Strickland.  John’s Rotary resume is extensive and honestly I wonder if he is ever home.

His message to our club was to tell the story of Rotary to one and all, everyday.

WEAR YOUR ROTARY PIN – everyday....it will open doors & opportunities for you & your club.. Rotary Clubs can be proud of what we do as we give our time and money to well thought out projects that will make life better for the users of the project.  The Power of Rotary multiplies the power of one.  Listen to people when they comment on what Rotary has done for them, no matter what walk of life and work they come from. Be proud of your organization

Local projects – tell the world who financed them....it should not a secret. We are way ahead, as we have been erecting a large Rotary wheel on all of our projects in the last 14 years. It’s great to drive through Huntsville at night and see the Rotary Wheels shine as we pass by.

Rotary’s slogan for this year is Light Up Rotary. John suggested that if each of us lights a candle as a group – what a show of light we could generate for Rotary...be proud of what we do and we should be proud!!

We need  to keep telling our Rotary story, these days as we canvas for donations for our annual auction....yes we list our projects  on the reverse page of the donation request letter to donors, but we have to specifically speak to our donors of our local and international projects that we did last year and what we do every year especially here in our town and with our youth.

John commented that it is always nice to hear the chatter of the Rotary Club’s meeting room as you walk down the hallway – he was impressed at our Club’s chatter as he entered our meeting this past week. We need to be proud of our club and all the great things that we do!!
