Len's Corner
Len once again took the reins for fellow Rotarian Ron Strickland and rather than the usual question and answer period decided he would talk a little bit about Public Speaking 101. He started by sharing that way back when, before computers, email, cell phones etc. we used to 'talk' to eachother. This was the way that we communicated and how information was shared. He suggested that Rotary gives us all an opportunity to get up and speak. He encouraged us to do so! His main points to execute were;
1) Use Happy Bucks as a chance to stand, address our membership and use the Mic, he said old people can't hear (lol)
2) He described the 80/20 principal. Using his math, he broke down the 20 into 10 and 10%. He suggests that 10% of your audience will love you and 10% will hope you fall flat on your face, so bascially those two cancel eachother out. You are then left with the 80% who are SO happy to listen to you because they are just glad it isn't them having to speak!
3) Is it the truth? Len shared a little story about him and Suzi J. walking in a field and finding a well...and we learned how that Suzi J knows a lot about physics!
