Jamie Thompson provided an update on Dockfest. All the tubs are sold and tub repairs are near completion. Delivery of the tubs will begin upon completion of repairs. The parade has 40 entries and should be a success. A volunteer list was circulated during the meeting. Volunteers are still needed. This year’s event will as in the past include entertainment between the heats, food and beverage vendors in Rivermill Park, as well as a tent hosted by Rotary and the Hospital Foundation promoting our club and offering the opportunity to donate to the hospital foundation. The funds raised through Dockfest this year are being donated to the hospital foundation.
Guest Speaker Dr Laurie Houston spoke about her charity CANHELP a group dedicated to providing dental care in underprivileged countries. She gave a detailed presentation outlining her work. They have worked in many countries that we have been involved with through our international programs like HHART in the Dominican Republic and Dr. Roldan’s project in Guatemala. They have 3 projects planned for 2027 and are seeking our financial support. The international committee will consider her request for funding when completing their 2026-27 budget.
