Club Announcements

Rotary Club of Huntsville     Meeting Notes ,November 1 2023

President Len was avoiding the Halloween snow in Barbados so membership Chair Rick Wearing was left in charge of our Nov 1 meeting
Rick had a 2 page agenda and promised to have us out by 1:30pm
After a Land Acknowledgement the Guests were introduced
Rose Young, Fran Mitchell, Nick Paroschy and Liz Bahrens

Lunch was enjoyed between 12:15 and 12:40  Precisely on schedule

Birthdays  Hugh and Mary Dave Mcgregor and Bob Gibb
Rotary Anniversaries  Bryan 5 years  Adrian 4 years

It was Unanimously accepted that we would continue to meet at the Legion

Auction update from Chair Bill Pritchard      200 items brought in with an amazing donation of a $10,000 geft certificate from NyDock   38 paid block sponsors  Potential for a $44,000 auction
Marketing is a challenge this year with the elimination of the TV and newspaper but our Marketing Dept (Rob) has come up with some great ideas to keep us noticed. We are still doing a flyer with the help of Dreams becoming Reality (Joanne Stewart) with Radio Ads and in town signage plus access to all previous bidders and Nydocks mailing list of 6500 we should be OK.

Ross Kirwin Bandshell   Good turnout for the ceremony to remane the RiverMill Park bandshell in honour of Ross Kirwin

Muskoka Healthy Living Expo     Thanks to Peter, Jen. George, Dolores, Henri  and Mary for looking after our booth  Rick has dozens of names to followup. New Table top display and brochure were excellent.

Mary will look after the Remembrance Day Wreath on Nov 11

Jen reported on District Conference attended by Len Nina and herself.
Jen received a Presidential Citation for completing a number of goals for 22-23
We were 2nd in the District for Foundation Donations

Our condolences go out to Rotarian Bill Sibeon on the loss of his wife Fayelenore

Today's Speaker

With all the snow and ice that we had during the previous evening ,  the EMS people that were scheduled to speak today were very busy and unable to be with us.
Chairperson Rick was quick to fill his agenda with substitute speaker Dr Adrian Musters.
Adrian gave us some very useful info on dealing with emergency situations and especially with a story on how he helped save a life with advise on using 81 mg aspirin.
Adrian advised us to carry these in our vehicles or on our person to help if you or anyone you are with experiences the symptoms of a heart attack. Place 2 tabs under the tongue which will help keep platelets flowing long enough to get you to the hospital.
