Today's Speaker

Introduction of Guest Speakers – Jennifer Simpson introduced her co workers at the Huntsville Hospital Foundation Meaghan Byrnes and Trish Kruusmagi.

Guest Speakers Meaghan Byrnes and Trish Kruusmagi: This club has donated $ 370,000 since 1988.  The Foundation vision is “Healthcare for Life”.  The Mission Statement is “Inspire Giving to Support our Hospital”.  The Rotary Club is a major partner with the Foundation.  The Business Cares initiative has 54 active partners and has raised $ 2 million.  The Focus on Imaging campaign raised $ 10 million to replace all imaging equipment, including the MRI machine which will be delivered from Germany on May 6 and should be in operation by end of June, 2025.  There are sufficient, properly trained MRI technicians to operate the machine 16 hours per day.  The lifespan of an MRI machine is about 10 years and it cannot be moved.  The current location can be separate from the new hospital so it can still be used when the new hospital is built.

They presented a timeline for the new hospital build, with an architect design in 2026, detailed planning and design work in 2027, selection of developer in 2028, and construction to begin 2029 and completion 2032.  The Foundation needs to raise $ 70 million over the next ten years.

President Len presented Meaghan and Trish with a cheque for $ 10,000
