Rotary Club of Huntsville Meeting Notes , January 4, 2023 PDG and Past President Ron opened the meeting by welcoming everyone. A toast was made to the Monarchy, Canada, and Rotary. Words of Gratitude: We give thanks that our neighbour to the South is not attacking us and destroying our power plants, infrastructure, homes, schools, and hospitals. Thought for the Day: What can we do to stop our neighbours in the North from crossing the Arctic Ocean and seizing our Arctic Islands? Guests: Nick Paroschy, from the Morning Club; Lynne Strickland, Drew Markham, and Mya Vanderburgh (granddaughter of Tony and Dolores). Club Business: - Speakers are needed for March and the following months. Mary volunteered to give a presentation in March on her trip to the Philippines, with help from Will Gibson. Adrian is a possibility to speak on the Guatemala project.
- Drew was happy to be back and will share more about his travels at a later date. Compared to the Rotary Club in England that he is associated with, this club has done amazingly well with fundraising during Covid.
- Peter Redwood shared that the Board has approved a project to supply food on Canada Day at Heritage Place as a service to the town. More details later.
- Will said that the board has decided to divest the club of Dockfest. Notices have been posted on social media seeking someone to take it over.
