Today's Speaker

Our January 3rd meeting was a Club Assembly to update members on Committee work and Finances
Treasurer Rob
Operating account
This is used to collect dues and meal money then pay RI dues and the Legion for our lunches
While our dues do not totally cover the RI expense we are able to transfer an administrative amount for running the Auction as well as interest from our 2 GIC's to help offset these and some other admin costs such as our website.
Service Account
The Internet Auction netted $37,000 this year and other potential revenue will come from the Joint play done with the Festival of the Arts
This funds our International Projects ($16,000) our High School Bursary program our $10,000 commitment to the Hospital Foundation and this year a repair to the Train Station roof for $6,000.

A suggestion was made to investigate a donation from Via Rail for the Auction
Treasurer Rob made a motion that the 2023-2024 Budget be approved seconded by Bob Gibb  Carried

Bingo finances
We have raised the cost of cards to $10 as of the start of 2024 and raised our Jackpot to $4500. Parry Sound Rotary was consulted and have agreed to remain at their current level of Compensation
Cogeco will no longer be doing Bingo in the summer (June 17th to September 17) reducing our Bingo income for next year by a quarter. This will have a big impact on what we are able to continue to support in the Bingo budget. We have purchased a new TV for the Legion and put Cogeco TV back in so that people can pay there. Hopefully this will grow as a way for people to gather in a location to play bingo together.

 Public Relations and Social Media
Will Gibson reported that there have been 10 Doppler articles in the past year about Rotary giving us positive exposure in the community. RC Huntsville has 1191 Facebook followers and 1334 Instagram followers and we have had regular posts about our 90th anniversary done by PP Jen Simpson. These are seen by hundreds of people in the community keeping Rotary in front of people regularly.
At our last Board meeting President Len took on the PR chair position.

Membership (Rick Wearing)
At the end of December we have 30 active members.New members this year include Dan James, Bob Gibb, Liz Bahrens,Connor Ryan. With there concurrence we removed Drew Markham and Tim Lutton as honorary members as they are members of other clubs and we moved Jim Hutton to Honorary status. We are looking at a Corporate membership program.

In chair Jen's absence Adrian reported that all of our ongoing International projects are proceeding as planned. Our Guatemala dental commitment is wrapping up as the Medical program starts to ramp up. A Global Grant is being written. The committee is looking at a fundraiser specific to the Guatemala project in the Fall.

Adrian carried on to discuss the environmental committee projects. There are still 3 Hunters Bay trail benches to install and 8 at Fairy Vista. Adrian is making a deputation to the Town on Jan 29th to see if this can get back on the rails. All the materials have been purchased and are ready to be installed. The potential "Rotary Garden" beside the Pavilion is also on the agenda on Jan 29th.
