Introduction of Guest Speaker – PDG Ron introduced PP Drew by saying he really needed no introduction. Drew was happy to share his recent world travels. Drew has addressed the club a couple of times during his 3 years abroad. In the past he has updated us on his travels in and around Manchester, and shared some of the experiences he and Janet have had with their local Rotary Club in Altrincham. Today Drew was taking us along with he and Janet on their trip 'home'. Many people would have booked a direct flight but Drew and Janet decided to do it over 2 1/2 months travelling through Europe, the Middle East, the Far East, Australia and some of the exotic islands in the Pacific. From the streets and historical buildingsof Rome to the ruins of Petra and the skyscrapers in Dubai the journey was jam packed with jaw dropping scenery and experiences. Drew mentioned one of he and Janet's most memorable visits was to an elephant sanctuary in India. Although a bit sceptical when he started the day, Drew said it was a moving and enjoyable experience and he has a new respect for those four legged giants with the floppy ears. One of their final stops was in Bora Bora (or was it Fiji) where they spent a couple of nights in units perched over the crystal clear waters. An idyllic retreat for anyone who has $2,000 a night to spend!! We are happy to have Drew back in Huntsville but from his closing comments it was pretty clear that their future plans are unknown and new travel adventures are very likely.
