Today's Speaker

The January 7th meeting was a combined Club Assembly and Future planning session.
Club members were asked " What can we do to enhance the Club?"

Here is the discussion that followed.
  1. Can we reinstate Zoom?
Our negative experience with Hybrid Zoom and the lack of a trained technician seems to rule out having an interactive Zoom meeting. There was interest in trying a recording of parts of the meeting and having this posted on a Youtube  channel to allow for viewing by members.

  1. Can we change our meeting format?

It was suggested that we offer lunch at 11:45 in the room where the food is served and then move to our Business meeting in the current meeting room at 12:15 for a 1 hour meeting. This would also allow the Legion to have free access to clean up after lunch which they now have to wait until 1:30 to do.

  1. Can we have  Zoom for out of town speakers?

It was thought that this would be a good use of Zoom to allow for a greater variety of Speakers. The set up could be much simpler with just a laptop connected to the large TV and our moderator interacting with the presenter.

  1. Can we do some Long Range Planning to review the donations that we make. Should we have a narrower focus based on an agreed on charitable giving strategy? Do we need to continue with all of the current donations that we have done year after year?

  1. Can we do some strategic planning around a new Club Project. It was pointed out that Rotary traditionally identifies a project and then raises funds to complete it as was the case for the Bandshell.

  1. Can we look at a humanitarian project partnering with another organization?

  1. Our Environment committee is looking for ideas for projects beyond the Pollinator Garden in our community.

  1. We should gather information from the community as to what they want Rotary to do.

  1. We need to come up with a use for the funds that were generated by the Alumni Hockey Game. There does not seem to be a Town priority for a winter outdoor facility.
