Rotary Club of Huntsville Meeting Notes Sep 18 2024

President Len opened the meeting by welcoming everyone.

A toast was made to the King, Canada, and Rotary.

Jim Schiedel was in attendance to remind us that this Saturday is PerogyFest Proceeds from the Rotary Club of North Muskoka project are going to Mind Aid Enliven Cancer Care and Ukrainian relief.

AGM 2024

At our Annual General Meeting we passed 3 Motions

1. Approving the financial results for 2023-2024 of the Service and Operating Accounts Moved by Will Seconded by Ron

2. Approving the Budgets for the Service and Operating Accounts for 2024-2025 Moved by Will and Seconded by Jamie

3. Approved the Bingo Budget for 2024-2025 Moved by Will seconded by Bill S

We confirmed the continuance of the current Board of Directors Len Ross President Rob Saunders Treasurer Will Gibson Secretary

Jen Simpson Past President and Rick Wearing Director and Membership Chair

Rick then discussed a proposal for a Corporate membership package and that they will approach a prospective company to be our initial candidate

Will has sent out a copy of the proposed new Bylaws that are compliant with Ontario Not for Profit Corporations Act

Please review these and we will vote on them on October 1.

Today's Speaker

Todays speaker was Kelly Musters (Adrian's daughter in law)

She discussed the vision for the Avery Beach Garden. A Natural Muskoka Garden with Pollinators Rocks and pockets of flowers that will bloom spring summer and fall. It will have a meandering path. It needs to be accessible. It is a very shady area which will limit the type of plants that can go in.

We hope to get most of it done before Thanksgiving but some planting will occur in the spring of 2025. A peace pole was discussed and can be unveiled in conjunction with one that the Morning Club is doing for their Garden by the bridge.

Adrian has agreed to give us notice before we have to work (at least 12 hours)
