Peter Redwood:
1.  Sad news – Bill Pritchard had a heart attack and will need to have a triple heart bypass and is in ICU at Huntsville Hospital.  Please reach out to Bill.  Also, Ken Stronach is back in hospital, diagnosis not determined.  Rotary members will offer support as needed.
2. The six winners of the Rotary $ 12,000 in bursaries which were given out recently were: Edda Carnduff to study Arts in History at Brock U; Maeve Young to study Sociology and Law at Trent U; Autumn Thatcher to study for her pilot and float plane licence at Prairie College, Alberta.  The health bursaries were given to Natalie Juszczak to study to be a nurse practitioner at Western U; Carolyn Yungblut to study to be a cardiothoracic surgeon at Western U; and Nikki McGregor to study nursing (in French) at Laurentian U.
3. The club is doing a barbeque every 2-3 weeks.  Peter will reach out for help when needed.

Adrian Musters:
1.Installation of new benches on Hunter’s Bay Trail and Fairy Vista Trail is progressing.  The bench project is nearing completion, and Adrian thanked John Humphrey who helped create the design and precut all the lumber.  Adrian also thanked all the volunteers.
2.Great Lakes Watershed Cleanup Project, a Rotary initiative – a cleanup of the water by the town docks will be held on July 18 at 6 p.m. with our volunteers Rob, Jennifer, possibly Paul, along with members of Scuba Shack from Gravenhurst, “Divers against Debris”.  Algonquin Outfitters is offering support, also York Waste Management.  All are invited to be there at that time to show support. There will be media coverage.
3. Adrian and Rob are organizing an induction for “Hockey Hall of Fame for 80 plus year old hockey players” on August 24 in Huntsville, as the eastern Ontario part of a wider group.  They are asking Rotary to help to promote healthy aging.

Adrian made a presentation to John Humphrey for all his help with the bench project.  John said that he has known Adrian for 40 years, and tried to get him to join Rotary, but Adrian only joined after John left the club!

Len on Club Finances: The club finances are in good shape, thanks to Treasurer Rob Saunders, there is enough money to do what has to be done.  Bingo is finished for 10 weeks, due to Cogeco’s request and will resume September 17. Will Gibson asked that all Bingo envelopes be returned to him.

Rick Wearing re Board Decision on Curling Club: Further to the Curling Club president’s presentation to this club a year ago and request for help with the fundraising effort for a fully accessible facility, the board approved a donation of $ 5,000.00.  The members present voted unanimously in favour of the expenditure.
Membership:  Len noted that Rick Wearing, as Membership Chairman, brought in four new members this past year, and in the new Rotary year, will be seeking corporate memberships, whereby different personnel from a company can attend and participate in Rotary activities.  Len thanked Rick for this initiative.

International Service -  Jennifer Simpson: There is one district grant in the works, the Guatemala project, and this club is participating in (but not leading) two global grants.

Succession Planning – Len:  The club is doing very well but succession planning needs to be improved.  A succession planning committee, made up of past presidents, will be formed and a president elect will be chosen by October.  Both the past president and president elect should be on the board of directors.

Donation to Soup Table Kitchen:  A cheque for $ 5,000 will be presented at 2 p.m. on July 20.  Members welcome to attend the ceremony.

Dockfest – Jamie Thompson:  Jamie presented caps and shirts with the Dockfest logo, also the water bottle.  Rob has been putting Dockfest posters around town.  The mayor, our MP and MPP will all be in attendance.  All boat drivers must attend two practices and get a safety talk.  Paul Evans is handling volunteers for various positions.  Everybody needs to be involved. Please contact Paul to volunteer. Paul presented Bill Sibeon with an official referee shirt.
There will be raffle tickets ready by June 21 to sell ahead of time and at the event.
Len thanked Jamie and all who have helped.

Barbados Students – Len: They will be officially welcomed to Huntsville at noon on July 28 at the Town Hall.  Everyone welcome.  The students will be helping out at Dockfest and will be speaking to the club at the meeting on July 3.  Members are welcome to join in their various outings during their time in Huntsville.
