Introduction of Guest Speaker: Rick Wearing introduced Cathy Foyston, who would speak to us on her horse farm outside of Huntsville, called “Back of Beyond Equestrian Centre”, on the connection between horses and humans.
Guest Speaker Cathy Foyston: Cathy thanked President Len for having her to speak. At her farm, “Back of Beyond”, they have various activities for people with disadvantages. They have also created a registered charity, “Victory Valley Farms”, which is a Christian charity. They work through a connection between horses and people. It is about how people change from a relationship with a horse and then feel better. They learn how to get the horse to do what they want.
Cathy showed a video on how they teach people to work with horses. They have different programs, which are all free, and they fundraise to raise the money to carry out their programs which are available to anyone in the community. Horse Day Camp is for 6-11 year olds, and Trail Blazers program works with young people 8-16 years old from The Door. They also have individual sessions.
People in the community can assist by volunteering or offering financial help. People who go there can become their best self. This program helps to change the world, one child at a time.
