ANNOUNCEMENTS:

JIM HUTTON

  • Jim reminded us about the Bonaire golf tourney for the Rotary Foundation

BRANDY VAN GELDER
ADG Brandy:  Brandy has visited 3 clubs in her role as ADG– Gravenhurst, Bracebridge and Parry Sound.  Parry Sound club has socials at members’ homes for their summer meetings, great fellowship.
Final report on Dockfest: Brandy recognized the leaders of the Dockfest committee and all club members.  This was the most successful Dockfest yet.  Net amount of revenue will be just under $ 23,000.00.  Local businesses are already showing interest for next year and we should have an increase to 40 boats next year.  The Food Fare format provided same income as other years without Rotarians’ labour.  The raffle brought in $ 6,600.00.  Brandy recognized major raffle ticket sellers.  Dr. Mikhail won the raft, and Lynne Strickland and Hugh Holland won 2nd and 3rd prizes.   A write-up on Dockfest is on Page 20 of a recent Rotarian magazine.

SUZI JARVIS.
1. Membership:  Emphasis will be on a Mentorship Program.  She will do a “one-on-one” meeting with any members wanting assistance with the computer aspect of Rotary.   Retention has a high priority for attention.
2.  Social Media: Suzi handles Instagram and Facebook postings.  Please let her know of any events to be noted.
3.  Youth Services:  (Director Julia McKenzie) – Our new exchange student will be arriving from Italy in August, and will be staying with Suzi til November 1.

PAMELA MCCLUSKEY

A Look at the Budget
Deb Liddle discussed the budget for 2018/19, which had been emailed to members, and explained a few items. A motion was made to accept the budget as presented, Brandy seconded and it was passed unanimously. Well done Debbie!

$$ Dolores noted that her previous Trinidad club celebrated their 25th Anniversary and produced a newsletter that had an article acknowledging District 7010's participation in a wheelchair distribution (participants included our own Bill Sibeon & Doug Fairhall)

$  Bill Sibeon responded with a Rotary Moment involving delivering a wheelchair to an impoverished bed-bound senior who was overwhelmed by the donation (you have to be overwhelmed to kiss Sibeon!)

$ Brandy (briefly) commented how rewarding she was finding her early days as ADG. She's inspired!

$ Katy commented that there was a lot of #%@&^% flowing in Muskoka these days and she has all of her units out there doing the best they can to keep up

$ Jen Jerrett (before she won the $$$) thanked our server Wayne for his efforts on his first day with us. Wayne then promptly drew Jen's ticket. Not suspicious at all!!

$ Gord Mitchell proclaimed he had his second go round as engineer of the Portage Flyer and hands down he is the best engineer they have ever had, period!

The Elusive Joker!!!
President Kim is doing damage control with the expectation that attendance at upcoming Rotary meetings will drop significantly (we may never see Nick again) as the Joker was pulled out of the 3 card pile ... and not just by one person! In a weird twist both Jennifer Jerrett and Doug Sullivan had the lucky ticket. Doug pulled the Joker on behalf of the duo and a prize well in excess of $1,000 will be split.
